Ouuuu what an enticing slice of a spectacular experience! Is that NOLA band with the Mardi Gras Indian The Rumble? And isn’t Cimafunk the best?! You should come down for Cimafest! Thanks for sharing but I’ll need more 😜
Don't know, but for sure that's big Chief Juan Pardo from the Golden Comanche, I think they are mainly uptown like 13th ward. George Clinton seems to think of Cimafunk as his inheritor, that's high praise. When is Cimafest???
Seth, absolutely delicious videos from Cuba, truly proofing that music can for at least the moment, get you through anything. Song soars, spirit lifts, and you are in joy for that wonderful moment! I’m so glad you shared your “spring break,” with cold-bound Cape Cod. Passing delightful . . . thanks!
Great piece, Seth. Jeffrey Brown on PBS Newshour on Thursday did an interview with Cimafunk, a young Cuban musician who is now bringing Cuban music to the States. Working with Trombone Shorty*, etc. in New Orleans.
*TS is appearing at Cape Cod Melody Tent this summer.
Yes, those were the people I was with, the reason I was there! Trombone Shorty (Troy Andrews) in particular is a great person in addition to being a great musician. Real pleasure to get to be with him a bit.
Many thanks Walter, who by the way was featured in WCAI's "A Cape Cod Notebook" recently after my good fortune in taking a visit to his boatbuilding world:
This is so hauntingly evocatively beautiful! All the clips brought tears. Thank you so much!
