The beets, and beet greens, are delish. I always stop by the Cape Cod Organic farmstand to see what’s just picked, and then plan my dinner menu from what’s there. His mesclun lettuces are always great.
Thanks are due to County Commissioners Vicky Lowell, Rob O'Leary and John Doane who in 1988 voted to impose a perpetual conservation restriction (held by the Town of Barnstable) on the County Farm to keep it in agriculture. At the time, it was feared the State would take the farm for the construction of a new prison! This was a far-sighted action, much more important in the crowded 21st Century Cape Cod, where open land is even more at a premium. --- Mark Robinson
