I appreciate your work Seth, but building is necessary step to addressing the affordable housing crisis. Allowing for concentrated, and dense development, in areas that have already been built up will help ensure the Cape remains a place for all and not just the privileged few.

Thanks for the comment, Jake, and I've been musing about how and where that could happen. Hoping to do some more in-depth writing about that before long, but in the meantime I'll mention that my focus has been shifting toward, of all places, the Route 28 corridor from West Dennis to Falmouth. I think that's a good location to start! I just always go back to the idea that if we build where we already have developed, we can protect the beautiful and delicate lands we desperately hope to protect.

The rest of the story is the disruption in the real estate brokerage industry. Buyers now buy strictly on availability, not choice. Sellers dont have to look too hard to find a buyer. Who needs a salesperson? Processing the transaction becomes the task at hand. The REALTORS’ roles are being reinvented. Services are now outsourced to specialists, some who arent even human. Camera software measures interiors. Drones outside. Marketing services trended first towards franchises. Consolidating insurance and mortgages with sales brought us to Redfin, Zillow et al. Now Compass is everywhere and agents are vice presidents.
