Seth, thank you for writing this piece. Henry Stellwagen and I are descendants of a long family lineage dating back to 1699 on this continent. I can thank my father for tracing our lineage via Ancestry.com. Now, it’s up to me to bring light to those family members that made considerable contributions to humanity.

Many thanks John. Some years ago I visited members of the Stellwagen family who I think lived in Pennsylvania (though that might be wrong), for some work I was doing for a documentary that showed up on public television. I wish my memory of that was sharper, but I am sure this is the first time I've seen your last name spelled in this way.

Seth, just terrific story. Great that this kind of readable and important information can be seen by so many. Please keep up the flow of information about our local seas and men and women who go there for profit and life style. Keep an eye on the Chronicle Essay section. I have some stories coming up there concerning fish and fishermen too.
